The European Institute of Policy Research and Human Rights, AISBL welcomes individuals, students, institutions, NGOs, educational bodies, corporate organisations, governmental bodies, diplomatic missions, and public-interest partners who wish to support EIPRHR’s mission in the fields of human rights, policy research, education, advocacy, social inclusion, equality, cultural understanding, and international cooperation.

EIPRHR is an international non-profit association under Belgian law. Its statutory purpose includes the promotion of human rights, social inclusion, gender equality, cultural understanding, social justice, inclusive policies, and the integration and support of vulnerable groups. Its statutory activities include research and policy analysis, publications, seminars, conferences, workshops, micro-certification courses, cultural collaboration, advocacy, anti-discrimination initiatives, protection of vulnerable groups, humanitarian and social support, peace promotion, EU-wide cooperation, and international partnerships.

Membership offers an opportunity to support this public-interest mission and participate in EIPRHR’s research, educational, professional development, policy dialogue, advocacy, and cooperation activities.

Membership Categories

EIPRHR offers the following annual membership options.

Note: Membership contributions are annual and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or expressly decided by EIPRHR’s competent body. Membership contributions support EIPRHR’s non-profit statutory mission and activities.

 

 

1. Student Membership — €50 per year

Eligibility

Student Membership is open to individuals who are currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, an academic, professional, vocational, online, offline, or hybrid programme of study or training.

This category is particularly suitable for:

Bachelor’s students;

Master’s students;

doctoral candidates;

students of law, public policy, human rights, international relations, governance, political science, social sciences, and related disciplines;

participants, researchers, interns, fellows, or learners associated with EIPRHR programmes;

individuals interested in research, advocacy, human rights, policy analysis, governance, public-interest work, and related professional development activities.

EIPRHR may request reasonable proof of student, participant, or programme status, including but not limited to a valid student identification document, enrolment letter, admission confirmation, programme completion record, or EIPRHR-issued participation record.

Purpose and Scope of Student Membership

Student Membership is intended to support learning, research engagement, academic and professional networking, participation in EIPRHR events, and access to public-interest knowledge activities, subject to EIPRHR’s applicable rules, policies, and service availability.

Student Membership may also be required for continued access to certain post-programme services, including but not limited to:

verification of credentials after programme completion;

continuation or verification of EIPRHR-related email or communication services, where applicable;

receipt of career, fellowship, internship, research, publication, or professional opportunity updates;

access to member-only academic, research, advocacy, or public-interest activities;

administrative support connected with previously completed EIPRHR programmes;

services relating to research papers, publications, certificates, records, or institutional confirmation.

Mandatory Membership Requirement

With effect from 1 June 2026, EIPRHR services, facilities, communications, verification assistance, research-related support, publication-related support, and other institutional services shall be provided only to registered members, unless expressly exempted by EIPRHR in writing.

Accordingly, any student, participant, researcher, fellow, intern, or former programme participant who requires continued services from EIPRHR, including credential verification, email service continuation, career-related communications, or support in relation to a published research paper, must maintain an active Student Membership or such other applicable membership category as may be determined by EIPRHR.

EIPRHR reserves the right to verify eligibility, approve or reject membership applications, suspend access to services, or change the scope of membership benefits in accordance with its internal regulations, statutory objectives, and applicable law.

Payment of the annual Student Membership fee does not create an employment, agency, partnership, academic admission, scholarship, or automatic entitlement to any specific programme, certificate, publication, internship, fellowship, or professional opportunity. Membership benefits remain subject to eligibility, availability, institutional rules, and applicable terms and conditions.

 

2. Individual Membership — €100 per year

Who can apply?

Individual Membership is open to professionals, researchers, educators, lawyers, policy practitioners, human rights advocates, civil society actors, independent scholars, and public-interest individuals who support EIPRHR’s mission.

This category is suitable for:

• researchers and academics;

• legal and policy professionals;

• NGO workers;

• human rights advocates;

• educators and trainers;

• social-impact professionals;

• independent contributors;

• public-interest professionals.

Purpose

Individual Membership enables individuals to support and engage with EIPRHR’s research, education, advocacy, policy dialogue, and international cooperation activities.

3. NGO / Educational Institution Membership — €500 per year

Who can apply?

This category is open to non-governmental organisations, non-profit organisations, educational institutions, training centres, research groups, academic bodies, civil society organisations, and public-interest organisations.

This category is suitable for:

• NGOs;

• civil society organisations;

• universities and colleges;

• schools and training institutions;

• research centres;

• educational platforms;

• non-profit advocacy organisations;

• community-based organisations.

Purpose

This membership supports institutional cooperation in areas such as research, education, training, seminars, workshops, publications, advocacy, social inclusion, equality, and public-interest projects.

4. Institutional / Corporate Membership — €1,000 per year

Who can apply?

Institutional / Corporate Membership is open to companies, professional bodies, research organisations, consultancy groups, foundations, corporate social responsibility units, and private-sector entities interested in supporting EIPRHR’s non-profit mission.

This category is suitable for:

• companies;

• corporate foundations;

• professional associations;

• research and policy organisations;

• CSR departments;

• private institutions supporting public-interest work;

• professional networks.

Purpose

Institutional / Corporate Membership supports responsible cooperation, professional development, research engagement, social-impact initiatives, human rights awareness, diversity, inclusion, and public-interest policy dialogue.

Important Note

Corporate or institutional membership does not allow any member to influence EIPRHR’s independent research findings, advocacy positions, publications, policy analysis, or institutional decisions.

5. Government / Embassy / Diplomatic Mission Membership — €2,000 per year

Who can apply?

This category is open to governmental bodies, embassies, diplomatic missions, public institutions, intergovernmental bodies, and official public-sector entities that wish to engage with EIPRHR’s mission in areas such as human rights, inclusion, policy dialogue, education, research, and international cooperation.

This category is suitable for:

• embassies;

• diplomatic missions;

• public institutions;

• governmental departments;

• intergovernmental bodies;

• public agencies;

• international cooperation offices.

Purpose

This membership supports structured dialogue, public-interest cooperation, participation in relevant events, policy discussion, educational exchange, and collaboration on non-partisan, rights-based, and socially inclusive initiatives.

Important Note

Governmental, embassy, or diplomatic membership does not imply political endorsement, diplomatic representation, official accreditation, lobbying, preferential treatment, or influence over EIPRHR’s independent research, advocacy, publications, or institutional governance.

Statutory Membership Structure

Under EIPRHR’s statutes, the association is composed of:

Effective Members

Effective Members are statutory members with full rights under the Belgian Code of Companies and Associations and EIPRHR’s statutes. The General Assembly is composed of Effective Members, and only Effective Members have voting rights in the General Assembly.

Admission as an Effective Member requires approval by the Board of Directors and is subject to statutory conditions, including:

• good reputation and good moral standing;

• sincere interest in EIPRHR’s activities;

• active and regular participation in EIPRHR’s activities, programmes, or governance for at least twelve consecutive months;

• full adherence to EIPRHR’s mission, vision, and values;

• support from two Effective Members;

• approval by the Board of Directors by the required statutory majority.

Adherent Members

Adherent Members are supporting members who share an interest in EIPRHR’s mission and activities but do not hold the full statutory rights of Effective Members.

Adherent Members may participate in events and initiatives and support the mission of the association, but they are not required to have a long history of sustained engagement. Their role is supportive, educational, cooperative, and public-interest oriented.

Unless otherwise decided in accordance with the statutes, public membership applications through this website are treated as applications for Adherent / Supporting Membership.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for membership should:

• support EIPRHR’s mission, vision, values, and public-interest purpose;

• demonstrate good reputation and good moral standing;

• respect human dignity, equality, inclusion, non-discrimination, and cultural understanding;

• act consistently with EIPRHR’s non-partisan and non-profit character;

• avoid conduct that may harm EIPRHR’s reputation, independence, or statutory purpose;

• comply with applicable laws, EIPRHR policies, and membership conditions;

• provide accurate information during the application process.

EIPRHR may decline or discontinue membership where an applicant or member does not meet the eligibility requirements, does not align with the Institute’s mission, or where acceptance may create reputational, legal, ethical, political, financial, or institutional risk.

Membership Benefits

Membership may include access to selected benefits, depending on membership category, programme availability, and institutional capacity.

Possible benefits include:

• recognition as an EIPRHR member or supporting member;

• access to selected public or member-oriented events;

• invitations to seminars, workshops, conferences, and policy dialogues;

• opportunities to participate in research, education, advocacy, and public-interest activities;

• access to selected newsletters, updates, reports, and publications;

• eligibility to submit research proposals, event proposals, or partnership ideas;

• opportunities for institutional visibility, subject to EIPRHR approval;

• participation in relevant EIPRHR community activities;

• opportunities to collaborate on public-interest projects, where approved.

Membership does not automatically guarantee speaking opportunities, publication acceptance, partnership approval, certificate issuance, programme admission, voting rights, governance rights, employment, consultancy work, or formal representation of EIPRHR.

Member Responsibilities

Members are expected to:

• uphold EIPRHR’s mission and values;

• act ethically and respectfully;

• avoid discrimination, harassment, hate speech, or abusive conduct;

• respect confidentiality where applicable;

• avoid misrepresenting their membership status;

• avoid using EIPRHR’s name, logo, or identity without written permission;

• avoid making public statements on behalf of EIPRHR unless authorised;

• comply with EIPRHR policies, programme rules, and applicable law;

• pay the applicable annual membership contribution on time.

Use of Name, Logo, and Membership Status

Members may not use EIPRHR’s name, logo, emblem, website identity, certificate formats, institutional wording, or official branding for public, commercial, promotional, fundraising, legal, political, or institutional purposes without prior written approval.

Members may describe themselves only as:

“Member of the European Institute of Policy Research and Human Rights, AISBL”

or, where applicable:

“Supporting Member of EIPRHR AISBL”

Such reference must not imply employment, agency, formal representation, accreditation, endorsement, official partnership, diplomatic status, legal authority, or authority to act on behalf of EIPRHR.

Admission Procedure

Step 1: Submit Membership Application

Applicants complete the membership application form and provide the required information.

Step 2: Review by EIPRHR

EIPRHR reviews the application for eligibility, mission alignment, category suitability, and institutional risk.

Step 3: Board Approval

Admission as a member is subject to approval by EIPRHR’s Board of Directors in accordance with the statutes.

For Adherent Members, the statutes provide that the applicant must obtain approval from the Board of Directors. The Board decides within the statutory framework, and refusal of admission is without appeal.

Step 4: Payment of Annual Contribution

Once approved, the applicant will be invited to pay the applicable annual membership contribution.

Step 5: Confirmation of Membership

Membership becomes active only after approval and receipt of the applicable membership contribution.

Annual Membership Contributions

Membership contributions are payable annually.

The proposed annual membership contributions are:

• Student Membership: €50

• Individual Membership: €100

• NGO / Educational Institution Membership: €500

• Institutional / Corporate Membership: €1,000

• Government / Embassy / Diplomatic Mission Membership: €2,000

EIPRHR’s statutes provide that Effective Members and Adherent Members pay an annual contribution, which may differ by category of members, and that the amount is fixed by the General Assembly.

Renewal, Non-Payment, and Termination

Membership is annual and may be renewed subject to continued eligibility, payment of the applicable contribution, and compliance with EIPRHR’s rules and values.

A member may resign at any time by notifying EIPRHR in writing.

Under the statutes, a member who does not pay the required contribution within one month after written request may be deemed to have resigned. A resigning or excluded member has no claim to the assets of the association and cannot claim reimbursement of contributions already paid.

Suspension or Exclusion

EIPRHR may suspend, decline renewal, or terminate membership where a member:

• no longer meets eligibility requirements;

• acts contrary to EIPRHR’s mission, values, or reputation;

• misuses EIPRHR’s name, logo, or membership status;

• engages in discriminatory, abusive, unlawful, or unethical conduct;

• creates legal, reputational, political, financial, or institutional risk;

• fails to pay membership contributions;

• breaches EIPRHR policies or applicable membership conditions.

The exclusion procedure shall be handled in accordance with EIPRHR’s statutes and applicable Belgian law.

Independence and Non-Partisanship

EIPRHR is an international, non-partisan, non-profit association. Membership does not permit any individual or organisation to influence EIPRHR’s research conclusions, publications, advocacy positions, educational content, governance decisions, or institutional independence.

Acceptance of membership does not constitute endorsement by EIPRHR of a member’s political views, business activities, institutional actions, public statements, products, services, or legal positions.

Important Disclaimers

Membership in EIPRHR:

• does not create employment, agency, consultancy, or representation rights;

• does not provide voting rights unless the member is admitted as an Effective Member under the statutes;

• does not confer academic degrees, ECTS credits, regulated qualifications, or professional licences;

• does not create legal, diplomatic, governmental, or accreditation status;

• does not guarantee admission to EIPRHR programmes, fellowships, events, or publications;

• does not authorise use of EIPRHR’s logo or name without written permission;

• does not permit members to act on behalf of EIPRHR unless expressly authorised in writing.

Membership applications are subject to review and approval in accordance with the statutes of the European Institute of Policy Research and Human Rights, AISBL. Public membership categories are generally treated as Adherent / Supporting Memberships unless otherwise approved under the statutory procedure for Effective Membership. Annual contributions support EIPRHR’s non-profit public-interest mission and are not refundable except where required by law or expressly decided by EIPRHR’s competent body.
